Northern Song Dynasty landscape painter-Guo Xi's "Early Spring Picture"

Guo Xi was a court painter of the Northern Song Dynasty and a painting theorist.

"Early Spring" created in 1072 is considered his most classic landscape work.

This painting depicts the scene in early spring, when the auspicious snow has just melted and the earth is gradually recovering.

The work presents solid mountains, rivers, trees, and buildings, as well as misty clouds and slow flowing water of uncertain shapes.

In this painting, Guo Xi cleverly captured the atmosphere of early spring, leaving a picture full of life for this season that turns from warm to cold.

Through perfect composition, he created an ideal landscape scene, which makes people feel the beautiful vision that is feasible, promising, travelable and habitable.
